Really, it's all the about the snake charming jazz of the first song, Sister Mamie. The rest of the album is a bit spotty, with some decent tracks and some forgettable ones, but Sister Mamie makes it all worthwhile.
When I was a kid I used to listen to a great Maine public radio jazz show which used a Yusef Lateef track as as the title music. I never could find out what it was and it's been haunting me. Turns out I think it was Oscarlypso. I look forward to the Editor's comment which he points out that I'm wrong and that is was some other track from a different album which wasn't even made by Yusef Lateef.
