O.L.D. -- Old Lady Drivers

Debut album on Earache records from 1988 featuring the first recorded appearance of James Plotkin. If you had told me that this guy would have a long and distinguished career when I first heard this, I would have said nay. But here we are 20 years later, and he's still going strong, although mostly as a producer. Also featuring Alan Dubin on vocals -- you may know these two from their work in Khanate. This is more of a historical curiosity (not an historical curiosity, because that's stupid) than anything else. In other words, it's not that good, but you may be curious to hear it anyway.

I beg to differ. I think this is one of the most underrated experimental/extreme noisy/rock records of the era. A hell of a lot more interesting than the minimalist and droney crap he's been churning out for the last several years.- Toast

Dunno, doesn't really do much for me, but then a lot of his stuff doesn't do much for me. Of course I'm not saying it's entirely without merit or I wouldn't have posted it, but it's not exactly something that I'm going to listen to very often. Anyway, thanks for your comment.

i've got that record laying around somewhere. It's a classic. The vocalist sounds like no one else.

O.L.D. last LP 'Formula' (1995) might be my favorite of theirs. Much more industrial/krautrock, at times a bit like Swans or Chrome(?). A little spotty, but hits the mark on a few tracks: http://www.mediafire.com/?ytomwi1n0zk
